I'm new at using Excell. I'm trying to assign a numerical value to a letter in my spreadsheet.Can you walk me thru step by step? Or do you have a Video? Thanks

Try to maintain a reference
Try to maintain a reference Sheet with the Alphabet and its numeric equivalent. USe the Vlookup function to retreive the numeric equivalent and sum them..
If needed you could hide the reference sheet.

I"m trying to use the letter 'S' in a cell,to represent 8hrs. for that day... so when the sum is totaled,it will give me a numerical total...
S+S=16
S+S+S= 24
How do you make S represent 8 or any other value?

Thanx form the formula..I have it working on the sheet,but I cant get it to apply to certain cells?I'm new at this so it's 'French' to me? I'm trying to figure out how to send you a copy of my schedule that its applying to,and maybe that will help you explain it to me?
