I hope I’m posting this question in the right place.

I have been trying for a while to automate a process that takes a lot of my time without success. I work for a non-for-profit org and we try to allocating preference ranked choices to pre-ranked clients offering each client his or her highest available choice and have a standby clients in case one of the clients withdraws.

The process involves ranking clients (which I have a formula for) and then offering the first client his first choice before offering the second client his first choice if available and if not his second choice and so on.

I also would like to have a sheet with choices, showing standby clients in ranked order to be offered if offered client was to withdraw. Also, if clients are offered their highest available choice their other choices are disregarded so they would not appear as stand by.
I may not have explained the process as clearly as I should, so please feel free to ask for clarification.
